User Content Policy
User Content Policy — FishFinder Engine™
Status: DRAFT — for attorney review. Effective Date: [Effective Date] Version: 0.1-draft Read alongside: EULA / Terms of Use, Acceptable Use Policy, DMCA Policy, Privacy Policy.
This User Content Policy describes what you can and cannot post, the rights you give us when you post, and how we handle violations. "User Content" includes anything you submit to FishFinder Engine, including:
- catch logs (species, weight, length, date, time, lure, technique, weather, kept/released, free-form notes, and (with your permission) GPS lat/long);
- catch photos (up to 5 per catch, ≤ 10 MB each);
- lure-library entries (brand, category, color, photo, notes);
- saved lakes / favorites and their notes;
- bookmarked surveys and their notes;
- trip plans (name, dates, lake list, target species, lodging addresses, check-in/check-out times, and trip-companion assignments);
- AI follow-up prompts you type;
- SMS Trip Companion messages you send (inbound SMS body);
- saved searches;
- public-profile fields you have explicitly chosen to expose;
- bug-report submissions.
1. Ownership
You retain ownership of your User Content.
2. License you grant to us
By submitting User Content, you grant the Company a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable license to host, store, copy, transmit, reformat, resize, transcode, encrypt, index, search, display (only as part of the Service), back up, and otherwise process your User Content as reasonably needed to operate, secure, and improve the Service.
If you choose to make a public profile, you additionally grant us a license
to publicly display the User Content you have explicitly chosen to make
public on /profile/{tenant_id}.
We do not sell your User Content. We do not use your User Content to train third-party AI models. AI follow-up prompts and AI search prompts are sent to our AI sub-processor (Anthropic) only for the purpose of generating your response, and are stored only to render the Service to you.
3. Content you may not submit
You agree not to upload, post, or transmit any User Content that:
- depicts or sexualizes a minor;
- is sexually explicit, hateful, threatening, defamatory, harassing, or bullying;
- depicts or facilitates illegal harm to any person or animal;
- depicts the harvest, possession, or sale of a protected, threatened, or endangered species, or any species harvested out of season or in violation of state fishing law;
- contains personally identifying information of any third party (face, name, license plate, home address) without that person's consent;
- depicts a minor without that minor's parent's or guardian's consent;
- promotes poaching, trespass, or any violation of state, federal, or tribal natural-resources law;
- depicts an apparent crime, pollution event, or boating accident in a way intended to threaten, taunt, or harm another person;
- impersonates another person or entity;
- infringes any copyright, trademark, right of publicity, or other intellectual property right (including photos taken by someone else without their permission);
- contains malware, exploits, or other harmful code;
- contains advertising, spam, or commercial solicitations;
- you do not have the right to share.
4. Photos
- You may upload up to 5 photos per catch, each up to 10 MB.
- Photos are stored on our server in a per-tenant directory
(
data/uploads/{tenant_id}/). They are accessible only to you unless you have a public profile and have chosen to expose them. - We do not automatically scan or moderate photos as of the Effective Date. [Attorney Review Needed] — decide whether automated moderation (e.g., CSAM hash matching) is required before launch.
- Strip EXIF GPS metadata yourself if you do not want to share your precise photo location. Even if your catch's GPS is private in the app, the photo itself may carry coordinates.
- Do not photograph other anglers, children, or bystanders without their consent.
5. Catch logs and false reports
- Log only catches you actually caught.
- Do not submit fabricated trophy data, fake species, or impossible measurements to game features or future promotions.
- Do not submit catches taken in violation of state law (closed seasons, protected species, no-license, possession-limit violations, etc.) and expect the Service to host them. We may remove such entries.
6. Trip plans and addresses
- The Service stores lodging or meeting addresses (street, city, state, ZIP, lat/lon) and check-in/check-out times you enter for trip planning. This information is private to your account and the trip companions you explicitly invite.
- Do not submit address information for any third party who has not consented to be added to your trip.
7. Public profiles
- Public profiles are opt-in. By default no profile is public.
- Choose carefully what to expose. A public profile that surfaces your top lakes, catch counts, and timing may inadvertently reveal patterns that you would prefer to keep private.
- We may disable a public profile that violates this policy.
8. Bug reports
Bug reports are reviewed by staff. Do not submit personal information you do not want staff to see. Do not submit credentials, tokens, or payment data. Do not submit harassing content via the bug report form.
9. Removal, suspension, and termination
We may, at our discretion:
- remove, hide, or unpublish User Content for any reason;
- disable a public profile;
- suspend AI features, photo uploads, or SMS for individual accounts;
- terminate accounts that repeatedly or seriously violate this policy.
We may also remove or disable User Content in response to a valid DMCA takedown notice. See the DMCA Policy.
10. Reporting
If you see User Content that violates this policy, email [Contact Email] with a description, the URL or screenshot, and (where applicable) the reason it violates this policy. Reports are confidential.
11. License survival on deletion
If you delete a piece of User Content, our license to that content terminates within a reasonable period, except that backup copies may persist for [30 days — placeholder] and aggregate, de-identified analytics may continue to reflect that content's prior existence.
12. Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be posted at
/user-content and announced via email and/or in-app notice.
[Attorney Review Needed] — confirm content rules, photo-moderation posture, public-profile defaults, and license survival on deletion.
